1. Gregory Brooks – Co-Manager
Greg has been in the shipwreck research and recovery business since
1983. He is well versed in the latest technology used to locate and
survey submerged objects. He has successfully negotiated contracts
with foreign governments as well as in the United States. Bringing
a professional team together and keeping them motivated is a strong
quality he possesses. 2. John Hardy Sr. – Co-Manager
John brings over 40 years of engineering and business experience
to the team. As project engineer for a 90 engineer team, the Apollo
Space Suit and backpack was created. He owns and operates the La-z-Boy
Furniture Gallery in Scarborough. He is very active in helping community
charities such as the Root Cellar, an inter-denominational mission
meeting the physical and spiritual needs of inner-city youths and
their families.
3. Dr. Duncan Mathewson PHD – Senior Marine Archeologist
Mathewson has been characterized as the most controversial marine
archaeologist in America. By working with Mel Fisher, Mathewson
demonstrated that the preservation of our maritime heritage can
best be accomplished through a delicate balance of education and
profit incentive. Duncan holds a chair on the Florida Keys National
Marine Sanctuary Advisory Board.
4. Robert Cembrola – Marine Archeologist
Bob brings total enthusiasm and years of experience as an underwater
marine archeologist. He has spent many years as senior curator for
the Naval War Collage Museum in Rhode Island. In his position, Bob
has hosted many high ranking naval officers from foreign ports and
is well connected. Using his connections, recovering in many foreign
nations will now be possible.
5. Mark Palmer – Captain/Electronics
Capt. Palmer has years of experience using marine magnetometers,
side scan sonar systems, ROV’s, pulse detectors, DGPS and
WASS navigational systems. He was very successful on the operation
to survey and record the data on the sailing vessel “Margrette”.
He is well versed in underwater plotting and ship handling.
6. Peter Wallace – Operations Chief/Video/Electronics
Peter captained a 95’ research vessel “R/V Silver Seas”
while surveying sites down the east coast and the Bahamas. He brings
over 10 years of on site experience working in remote locations
under extreme conditions. He is NAUI and PADI certified, and has
learned the fine art of underwater videoing. Being a pilot will
help in locating ballast piles from the air.
7. Edward Michaud – Senior Researcher
Ed is well known for his vast documentation on WW11 German U-Boats
lost worldwide. While researching the archives he has compiled a
data base of well over 150,000 shipwrecks. He has over 20 year’s
hands on experience in both research and application. Ed has been
involved in projects worldwide and has been very successful in proving
his research. He has searched the archives of England, France, Spain,
Canada as well as others.
8. Kathryn Brooks – Office Manager
Kathryn has been instrumental in managing the office and being “first
contact” with our company. She brings years of knowledge on
shipwrecks and people skills to the team. Organization is one of
her top assets, keeping well ahead of planned company activities.
9. Lois Hardy – Assistant Office Manager
Lois is an amazing people-person who endears herself to all who
encounter her. Utilizing her energetic personality, business sense,
and vital sales abilities, she has become a dynamic integral part
of our organization.
10. Norman Laskey – First Mate/Diver
Norman is without question “first mate”, he has a vast
knowledge of the ships systems, its stores and supplies. He is a
hand’s on man and is the first one on the scene to get the
job done. You can always count on him when the going gets tough.
11. James Beaver – Acquisitions/Diver
Jim has been involved with the company since 1993. He is an excellent
diver and has found many unique artifacts. He has vast experience
in underwater searching and is very team motivated. He has contracted
with the Federal Government for over 20 years and can locate hard
to find items.
12. Guy Burnette – Lead Counsel
(Sandy) has been instrumental in obtaining hard to acquire permits
from the FKNMS, the Federal Arrest on over 18 sq. miles and has
developed a plan to establish ownership of the shipwrecks in our
claim area.
13. Professor William Vandercreek – Law Professor
Bill brings more than 30 years of maritime legal expertise to our
team, he was David Horan and Guy Burnette’s law professor.
He is still head counsel for the Fisher Group in Key West Fl.
14. David Horan – Key West Counsel
David successfully defended the famous Mel Fisher against the State
of Florida and the United States Government in the US Supreme Court
on the treasure galleon “Atocha”.
15. Richard LeBlanc – Portland Counsel
Sub Sea Research LLC’s corporate attorney.
16. Thomas Flood – Certified Public Accountant
Sub Sea Research LLC’s Certified Public Accountant
17. Christopher Russon – European Agent
Chris is an experienced ROV tech, commercial diver, side scan operator,
photographer, and a fantastic salesman. He is liked by all who meet
him and is a great asset for the team.
18. James Wallace – Chief Engineer/Diver
Jim brings 20 plus years of marine engineering as well as being
a member of the “A Team” dive team. His skills and knowledge
of the marine industry are unmatched.
19. Kenneth Mason – Technical Diver
Ken is an advanced Tech diver with many dives under his belt in
over 250’ of water. He is dependable, reliable and trustworthy.
20. Donald Freeman – Diver/Photographer
Donnie has been diving Maine waters for years, and is familiar with
no-vis type diving and locating objects on the ocean floor. He is
skilled in computers and is assistant side scan operator.
21. Gary Esper – Diver
Gary brings many years of diving experience, loyalty, and an honest
work ethic.
22. Jack Rutldge – Musarium
Jack has over 30 years experience in diving related matters. He
is a reporter for the Manchester Union Leader, has experience in
maritime museums, and has authored his own novel.
23. Rolande – Haitian Counsel
Rolande is Haitian Shipwrecks S.A. and C.I.S.S attorney in Haiti
24. Norman Houde – Chaplain
Norm has been involved since day one. He and Greg Brooks were in
Haiti in the early nineties negotiating a contract with the government.
He was an election monitor for the U.S. in Haiti. He was instrumental
in the creation of Haitian Shipwrecks S.A.
25. Ashley Brooks – Senior Web Designer
Ashley has been keeping things as light hearted as possible since
the first company dinner back in 1997. She is a prime communicator
and her deep interest in the shipwreck business is what drives her
to give the other personnel a much-needed reprieve from the every
day hustle and bustle. She has also been involved with the creation
of the company web site.
